Oil, Revolt in the GOP, Re-Districting, Obama vs. Bush
You know something is wrong with the world when oil close above $140 a barrel and folk are writing like it is something to happy about. SMH.
Expect a showdown at the GOP Convention as those on the hard right battle with McCain over the GOP platform that is currently at 100 pages all but nine of which have Bush’s name on them. Damn. Now I’m no McCain fan, but if the man is going to convince people that a McCain presidency isn’t going to be a third Bush term he needs to, at the very least, change all the Bush’s to McCain…lol…I kid. I kid.
In other GOP news in hopes of salvaging some of their power and influence in the House and Senate party officials are hanging their hopes on being able to redistrict everything and everyone come 2010. From the Huffington Post:
Republican officials now believe that the party’s best hope for retaking seats in Congress may come during gubernatorial elections in 2010. Should the GOP win back the majority of these seats (Democrats currently occupy 28 state capitols), they would be extremely well positioned to influence the redistricting of the political map that will come after the 2010 census.
Ah yes. I see Tom Delay’s influence is still alive and well in the Republican party.
Obama appears to be doing well in many Bush states. But I like I’ve said in the past, don’t count your Obama chickens before they’ve hatched. The day Georgia or Mississippi votes Democratic is the day I register for the Republican party. I’m just sayin’.
