Threat of Martilal Law if Bailout Didn’t Pass
Seems like there was major arm twisting, blackmail and fear-mongering involved to get the House and the Senate to pass the massive $700 billion, excuse me, $850 billion bailout bill. From Keep it Trill:
Sherman said, “Many of us were told in private conversations that if we voted against this bill on Monday [Oct 29], that the sky would fall, the market would drop two or three thousand points on the first day and another couple thousand the second day, and a few members were even told that there would be Martial Law in America if we voted no. That’s what I call fear-mongering…”
This explains why everyone looked so damn somber once the bill was passed. There mouths were saying one thing, “Oh this is a good thing. We’ve averted a catastrophe…blah, blah, blah,” but their faces were saying another, “Oh what the fuck did I just do.”
These are tough times ahead.
I’m not sure there’s enough preparation in the world to prepare us for what’s coming.
