Burris Takes His Case to the Courts
Seems like Burris isn’t taking the “Hell No” from Obama and other Democrats as to his senate confirmation. He is taking his case to the Illinois Supreme Court . Like it or not the guy has a point.
Blagojevich hasn’t been convicted of anything and he is still the governor of Illinois which me he has the power to fill Obama’s old senate seat whether he (Obama) and the Dems like it or not. This is definitely getting interesting.
I should go pop me some popcorn.
Roland Burris, the man embattled Gov. Rod Blagojevich has appointed to fill President-elect Barack Obama’s seat in the U.S. Senate, is asking the Illinois Supreme Court to confirm that nomination.
The move comes after Illinois Secretary of State Jesse White, a Democrat along with Blagojevich and Burris, refused to sign off on the appointment, which was announced Tuesday.
Documents filed Wednesday by lawyers for Burris ask the court to require White “to certify Governor Blagojevich’s appointment of Mr. Burris to the office of United States Senator from the state of Illinois and do all other acts required to confirm such appointment.”
