Awww, They Fight Over the Stimulus Plan That’s Not Going to Work

Sigh.

Maybe I’m just crazy for expecting leadership and not ideology from those in power during this crisis:

The $713 billion plan was put together by Florida Sen. Mel Martinez, who has been working with a handful of other GOP senators.

The proposal includes $430 billion in tax cuts, $114 billion for infrastructure projects, $138 billion for extending unemployment insurance, food stamps and other provisions to help those in need and $31 billion to address the housing crisis.

The draft Martinez put together is a broader approach than what some GOP leaders have suggested.

Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell and other Republicans appear to want to limit the stimulus to tax cuts and addressing the housing crisis.

Tax cuts?

Really?

So all those Bush tax cuts weren’t enough for you huh?

Exactly who’s supposed to be getting the bulk of these tax cuts? Please explain to me how these tax cuts are going to jumpstart the economy, put people back to work and put food on the table of average Americans. And, just out of curiosity, has no one considered that continuing to cut taxes in a time of war is just as bad an idea now as it was when Bush did it back in 2001?

Look, all this is tiring. By all accounts you’re need a much larger stimulus package to really give this economy the jolt it needs to get back on it’s feet, and even that’s debatable. I’m tired of all this yammering going on on the hill. There isn’t much they can do to prevent out economy form continuing to go to hell, but rolling tired and useless ideas, that only fulfill some antiquated ideology, is even more useless then the damn bailout.
